Imado Shrine is famed as a highly effective place for matchmaking. The deities worshipped here are Emperor Ojin, Izanagi-no-mikoto, and Izanami-no-mikoto. Izanagi and Izanami were the original progenitor gods and their marriage resulted in the creation of Japan and the birth of a multitude of deities. For that reason they are worshipped as deities of marriage and prosperity. Imado Shrine is also renowned as the birthplace of Maneki-neko ("welcoming cats"). The colossal cat couple enshrined in the hall is guaranteed to provide a good match.
