On a fine day, you will be able to catch a generous view of Mt. Fuji, Izu Peninsula, and all of the seven Izu Islands from the Kambiki Observatory on Shikinejima Island. The views offered here are the opposite of what busy, urban Tokyo is often perceived as. The coast itself has an intriguing rugged look to it. You will have to walk up 100 steps to get to the observatory's top, but judging by how blue and clear the waters are, the effort is likely worthwhile.
