Jinata Onsen is a natural, open-air hot spring at the bottom of a cliff, facing the sea. The mixed bath requires all guests to wear a swimsuit. Day trips only; no accommodation is provided.
With hot water sprouting out of the rocky shores of the coastline, Jinata Hot Springs has been the long-standing grand champion of the east in Fuyuto Noguchi’s ranked list of open-air baths. With the source temperature at 80 degrees, it is dubbed the “hot water of internal medicine” and is said to have therapeutic effects on nerve pains, poor circulation, arthritis, and women’s ailments, among many others. The water is red in color due to the presence of iron.
