Ashituke Onsen translates into “foot dipping hot spring.” The name derives from the legend of a sea lion that healed its wounded hind flippers by dipping them in this spring for days on end. The coastal facility draws natural water from the only colorless, transparent source in Shikinejima Island to the outdoor bath. All visitors are required to wear a swimsuit. The dressing area has been renovated for further convenience. The facility is open 24 hours a day for free of charge, and offers no accommodation.
