The approximately nine-hectare Hachijo Botanical Garden was opened on August 29, 1962. This garden makes use of Hachijojima Island’s warm natural characteristics to gather and introduce various plants from inside and outside Japan. In 1998, 22.4 hectares were opened. The garden contains a visitor center, athletic playground equipment, and Kyon, the small deer that is on display.

By car:By car, it takes 5 minutes from Hachijojima Airport, 15 minutes from Sokodo Port (regular ship servces are available), and approximately 10 minutes from Yaene Port.

From Haneda Airport:It takes 50 minutes to get to Hachijojima Airport, where there are three daily ANA flights

By train: The Tokai Kisen Tachibana-Maru passenger ship daily departs from Tokyo Takeshiba pier (1 minute by foot from Takeshiba Station on the Yurikamome Line). Leaving Tokyo in the evening, you will arrive at Hachijojima Island the following morning, by way of Miyakejima Island and Mikurajima Island.
