52nd Edogawa Local Goldfish Festival 第52回江戸川区特産金魚まつり

Gyosen Park, 3-2-1 Kita-Kasai, Edogawa City, Tokyo
2023-7-22 - 2023-7-23

Note: The 2023 installment of this event has already taken place.

Each summer, Edogawa City in Tokyo celebrates its rich tradition of goldfish breeding, a practice that began in the late 1800s, with a festival that features over 20,000 fish.

Try your hand at a kingyo-sukui (goldfish scooping) tournament, where your goal is to scoop up as many goldfish as you can into a bowl of water–without tearing a paper scooper called a poi. If you want to start your own aquarium, feel free to ask on-hand experts for advice.

The festival is typically held on the third weekend of July at Edogawa Municipal Gyosen Park, which is near Nishi-kasai Station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line and Funabori Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line.
