Ginza Dori 銀座通り

1 Ginza - 8 Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo

Ginza Dori, where haute couture meets street fashion

Take a leisurely stroll down Ginza Dori–Tokyo's fashionista answer to New York's Fifth Avenue and London's Oxford Street–and you are bound to be spoilt for choice.

Tips

  • Experiencing the laid-back, chic vibe of Ginza's pedestrian zone on weekend and public holiday afternoons
  • Visiting Japan's largest Uniqlo store and one of Japan's oldest stationery shops, Itoya

The 1.2-kilometer Ginza Dori not only takes you past prestigious department stores such as Mitsukoshi and Wako and luxury labels like Louis Vuitton and Chanel. There are also more accessible brands like Uniqlo with its largest flagship store worldwide, at 12 floors, and the Itoya stationery store that is over 100 years old.

Even if you don't have the cash to splash, a visit to Ginza Dori can still be rewarding with food halls, art galleries, as well as a traditional Noh theater. Go on a weekend or public holiday to experience a pedestrianized Ginza, where you can stop for photographs in the middle of the street or chill out on café seats brought out especially for the occasion.

When you're done with the main street, wander into Ginza's many nooks and crannies and you may just be surprised by the hole-in-the-wall gems that you can uncover.
