Tokyo Daijingu Shrine was established in 1880 to worship the deities of Ise Jingu Shrine from afar. It enshrines the sun goddess Amaterasu-mikami and Toyouke-no-okami, so it has come to be affectionately referred to as "Tokyo-no-Oisesama." These two deities are worshipped together with the three deities of creation and growth which govern matchmaking for all living creatures. Because this shrine founded the Shinto wedding ceremony, it is famed for its ability to ensure successful marriages.
