One of the rewards of coming to Tokyo is being able to explore the scenes of celebrated movies. Zojo-ji Temple is a prominent location featured in The Wolverine. The main character of Thermae Romae travels through time from ancient Rome to a traditional Japanese bathhouse. Of course the Shibuya Station “scramble crossing”—one of the busiest in the world—is a marvel worth experiencing. All these famous locations are just around the corner. Ready to pay them a visit?

Shibuya Station scramble crossing, etc. (Shibuya-ku)

Featured in Lost in Translation (movie, US)

The “scramble crossing” where as many as 3,000 people cross the street in every direction at the same time is perhaps the most famous in the world. The intersection as seen from a building top is featured in countless movies, TV dramas, and even news reports.

Inari-yu Bathhouse (Takinogawa, Kita-ku)

Featured in Thermae Romae (movie)

Founded in the Taisho period (1912–26), Inari-yu catches the eye at once with its pure Japanese-style façade. Inside, the painting on the wall by the bath and the wooden lockers are just as nostalgic. When the movie opens, the main character travels through time from his home in ancient Rome to this “modern” bathhouse.
